We are back from having spent almost a week at the beach, where we only roused ourselves from our ocean-induced stupor to occasionally apply more sunscreen and order more hush puppies.
So I’m a little low on funny stories this weekend, but fortunately I do have many funny signs to share with you.
Like this one
and this one,
both of which livened up our drive to the Outer Banks considerably.
Then once we arrived at the beach we discovered this one, which was intriguing and a little bit scary at the same time.
Then today as we were driving home we saw a sign that said,
“Unlawful
to feed bears
along highway.”
“Hm. Unlawful and stupid,” was my husband’s comment.
I agreed. But my version of the sign would have gone a little more like this:
“Unlawful and REALLY F*&%#@$-ING STUPID to feed bears along highway. Although if you are driving down the highway, and notice a 500-pound behemoth with claws lumbering towards you, and your first reaction is to try and lure it closer to you with food, then in all likelihood you probably deserve to be mauled.”
Here’s your sign.
(Thank you, Bill Engvall.)

LOL! I don’t know that I would want to eat in any of those restaurants. Those signs are frightening slightly! Love the Blue Collar Comedy Tour as well. Nicely done!

They are actually all very good places to eat. (I am from the area and have gone down to the OBX (outer banks) nearly every year)… But those signs still amuse the heck outta me. There is also a stop sign just north of corolla along the highway at an intersecton that has a “no stopping” sign just underneath of it.

Great photos! You wonder how they get those billboards approved. Just love it!

Thanks. We had a lot of fun driving around the “main drag” and looking for signs to take pictures of.

Oh my gosh, are these billboards for real?! The crab billboard sounds really disgusting. >.

Yes, they certainly do grab your attention when you see them!

I LOVE SIGNS LIKE THAT. But I particularly like the amended bear message. I agree wholeheartedly. Sometimes you just want to go ahead and throw a little chlorine in the gene pool by letting something like that play out.

Those signs were hilarious! Growing up, we had a restaurant that had a sign that said “Eat here, get gas”. Thanks for visiting my blog!

Awesome!

Yes, I almost threw in a little something about that being nature’s way of making sure you didn’t reproduce, but I decided not to. Nice to see others were also thinking along those same lines 🙂

I saw some funny signs driving through Alaska, but since I was driving, I couldn’t get the pictures… :/ My favorite # is 8 too…

Those are some hilarious signs. Near a minimum-security prison, I’ve seen a sign that says “Do Not Pick up Hitchhikers.” I thought it was amusing.

That’s awesome, although a little frightening that they acutally need to tell people not to do this there!

I’ve actually been to Dirty Dicks in Myrtle, SC–didn’t get crabs though! it’s a fun place…everyone’s rude, really rude, on purpose.
VA Beach has signs everywhere at ocean front saying ‘no cursing’. a little red circle ‘no’ symbol through “*?%!”. I’ve always wondered how they enforce that–don’t the beach cops have better things to do than listen for people saying ugly words?!

That is an excellent question!
