The Best Thing I Heard This Weekend

This past weekend I went up to North Carolina to visit my family. I spent a night with my brother and sister-in-law who just got married last summer and are settling into their own domestic routine.

They talked about how they don’t really get out so much anymore, now that they’re married, and I said that the same thing had happened to me and my husband too. Then my sister-in-law said to my brother, “Ooh, tell Jenny what you got last weekend.”

“Oh yeah!” said my brother, brightening.

I looked at my brother expectantly, excited to hear what had gotten the two of them so excited.

“I got a new pair of nasal hair trimmers” my brother exclaimed. “It was the best Saturday night ever!”

That is sad. Although I have to say, thanks for reminding me to trim those buggers. I keep forgetting and then they keep me awake at night with the tickling.

    Happy Inappropriate Card Day!

What? Isn’t the purchase of nasal hair trimmers cause for celebration and excitement in every home? No? Oh.

I’ve resisted the dreaded purchase of the nose hair trimmer. I probably need it though. It’s a true sign of “maturing” when the hair starts to grow in crazy ways. Nose hair is just one example. I also have eyebrows that start to grow long and bushy, but only about twice a year. How weird is that?

I tell my wife when she sees my eyebrows in need of trimming that I’m growing them out in tribute to Leonid Brezhnef. Though remembering him is a testament to my advancing age as well.

    I’ll shut up now.

Always glad when my blog can help perform little public services like this.
